Alfred Joseph Casson was born in Toronto in
1898. Apprenticed to Franklin Carmichael, Casson's
artistic strengths flourished and he became the
seventh member of the Group of Seven in 1926.
A
J Casson remained in Ontario and continued to paint
the landscapes and villages that had served as an
unfailing inspiration for his art since his youth.
He was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in
1979. |
